In your readers, there is a post about a neighbor of mine.
The post is a lighthearted joke about him finding a lady to spend some time with. I wrote it Monday, a few days after having invited him into our home for a drink for the first time, after we had been talking, and talking and talking about doing so since we first moved in in mid-July. I scheduled it to post at 12:01 this morning.
I took it down.
Outside this “old guy’s” house this morning there was a police car, a medical examiner’s van and a stretcher. No ambulance. No flashing lights. No emergency. Just response.
I don’t know what happened. And may not know for a few days. But the post didn’t seem as funny anymore. This space was meant for better things.

Its probably better you took it down, but in all fairness, when you wrote the post how were you supposed to know that he was going to have a medical problem?
I hope he’ll be o.k. Sometimes they send all response teams even in minor situations just in case.
Hopefully it was just minor. It just seems very unlikely.
That’s so sad. Hopefully everything is okay.
I am surprised that it bothers me as much as it does.
I hope everything turns out all right. I get nervous know when I see (or hear of) ambulances near anyone I know.
Me, too.
I’m sorry to read this. For what it’s worth, the post hasn’t shown up in my reader.
Really? I thought Google maintained them. Okay.
From the story Miss Bianca told me on Saturday, he was quite the lovable character. Our world could use a few more of those.
Yeah. Just seemed like a good guy.
Oh no. Hope he’s ok. The post didn’t show up in my reader either.
Okay. I am a little glad that it was invisible.
I know what you mean, but I still think it is ok to chuckle at the charming fella even post mortem.
Oh, yeah. I don’t think it’s time for a eulogy or anything. The timing is just so odd.
Geez. Now *I* feel like a bad person, too, for the comment I posted earlier today…
Oh. Please don’t. It was totally appropriate.
I agree with Lexa. Though I understand why you felt it better to take it down.
Yeah. I just figured it was a little weird to be joking today.
I didn’t see the earlier post, but perhaps your visit with him made his life a little brighter near the end?
Things like this are always shocking and hard to process. I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing it.
It was a bit of a shock. I often think too hard about things. But there was no loss in taking it down today.
Yikes I think it’s best to save it til you know what happened, then you can post with the appropriate tone.
I don’t think I can. I just replaced the post’s text in my editor so that any links that would appear in readers wouldn’t be broken; so I don’t think there’s any trace of it anywhere.
Woah. Big w-t-f here. Sadly I think the only way you’ll be notified is if the police need some answers. In other words, no news is good news.
sooo sorry… xoxo
And a respectable man for doing so. I see a beer in our near future.
it’s crazy how life throws curve balls like that.
shit, i hope everything is ok.
Oh man. I hope that you get to have future conversations with this man.
Aw, I hope he’s ok…
Great idea this, showing maturity in your response. I mean, her, awesome thoughts
